Watchtower Followers
Looking forward to coming to work this morning, I made my way over to feed my addiction at the local Starbucks. I walked in and noticed as I stood in line, the lady in front of me had her plastic case with Awake magazines. She paid for her drink and as she walked out she called to her partner who was tearing open a packet of Splenda to put in her drink. I as I fixed my coffee, I turned and said to her, “so, how long have you been with the Watchtower?” She nicely replied, “since 1986, why do you ask?” I simply told her that I notice “them” sitting on bus stops talking to people. I usually approach them knowing that most conversation with them leads to the same conclusion. I mentioned to her that not believing in the full deity of Jesus Christ will lead to eternal condemnation. I made the assertion that if Christ was perfect, but not the second person of the Trinity, as they believe, and died for sin, he could have only died for his own sin. If this was the case, we would fall into the section in 1 Corinthians 15, where Paul tells us if this were so we would be of most men to be pitied, and more than that, we are still in our sins! She replied, “explain that to me again.” I proceeded out the door after her as she led me to her ”senior” witness. Her friend immediately attempted to shut me down. She made the statement, “you and I, we are both Christians here.” I replied, “we are not, due to the fact that we have a different Messiah. The Messiah I know, according to the Scriptures, was God of very God and man of very man!” I returned to the point I was making to her friend Deborah about Christ dying for his own sin, if he was only a man like the rest of us. Just then, another group of Jehovah’s Witnesses walked up and sneered when they saw me with my Bible open (I had to get it from the car). I explained to them that in order for Jesus Christ to accomplish the salvation of His people on the cross, he would have to be more than a mere man. She, along with the rest of the group, chuckled at my statement and said, “he was more than a mere man, he was perfect, and born of a virgin.” And so the discussion went on. I explained that in order for Christ’s death to accomplish the salvation of His people, he had to have been divine! Because he is the second person of the Trinity, God of very God, he satisified the wrath of God on behalf of his people. She changed the subject and attempted to mock my view of heaven, but she was amazed at my answer when she asked, “so, where is heaven?” I explained we would have paradise restored here on earth and live life without sin as God originally intended. She was practically stupified! She thought I would say somewhere up in ”heaven” where we’ll sing hymns for eternity.
To make a long story, short, I called them to repentance and called them to believe in the Messiah of the Bible, who was prayed to, who was God of very God, the second person of the Trinity! The senior witness replied, “you offend me, you are not to do that, because Jesus did not do that.” I replied to her that my Messiah, was hated by many! Even by the most religious! That was the reason they crucified him! They all walked away as I paraphrased the Scripture that says, ”You diligently study the Scriptures because you think that by them you possess eternal life. These are the Scriptures that testify about me, yet you refuse to come to me to have life.” It was as if time had froze for that instant, when the conversation broke off, I realized there were several people listening. I was encouraged in the faith and glad to know my soul delights in the King of Kings, and that His spirit bears witness with ours, that we are His. May God grant them repentance, and may God grant us a zeal for the truth, that they have for a lie.

That, ladies and gentlemen, is why we are so blessed to be laboring for the Kingdom along side Mario, a godly example and mentor of mine. May God raise up men and women in The Faith like He did with Mario, and use them as crooked sticks to draw His straight lines! Baruch HaShem!!!
