Todd Bentley: Like Benny Hinn on Steroids!
Part One: The TB infection that has flourished in Lakeland, Florida, will arrive in Southern California in less than 2 weeks – Todd Bentley (TB) is like Benny Hinn on Steroids!
When I spoke to Stephen about writing this article for BT, his only request was for me to keep it less than 27 pages, and less than 25 You Tubes. So, I tried to keep it at 15-20 pages, and 15-20 You Tubes :~} I have been monitoring Todd Bentley for about 4 months now. What he does is clearly under the influence of demonic manifestation, invoking the Hindu “sprit” of Kundalini.
First up? We need to define our terms. (Hey guys, I had a good teacher)
Revival
To restore from a depressed, inactive, or unused state. A restoration of force or validity. (Webster)
1) Revival and spiritual awakening cannot be defined from a cultural perspective. Culture cannot create revival movements. Revival is based upon immutable biblical principals and this in turn affects both church and culture.
2) Revival is distinctive in that it embodies the sovereign movements of Christ on behalf of His church, in order to enhance her testimony in a given generation.
3) Spiritual awakening takes place among those who are lost in sin due to the relevance of an already revived church.
In the history of revivals both here in America and abroad there have always been shrieking, groaning, crying for mercy, convulsions, agonizing, fainting, falling down in distress, and being “slain.” My purpose is not to examine each or any of these Revivals, but I do want to point out some interesting facts.
From 1730-1760, Revival began in the Northeast and then spread to the Middle and Southern colonies of America. The emphasis was upon doctrine, those who preached were educated clergy who had Calvinist roots, relying on the sovereignty of God. There was no mass-phenomenon occurring on the people.
The Second Great Awakening, 1790-1830, started in the South and old Southwest. Its Theological roots were basically Arminian; it came from the Baptists, Methodists and Presbyterians. Preachers who were farmers would travel, as they were led, to the masses. Their preaching was at times emotional.
Many of those who were reputable and started their ministry before a revival were cautious in attributing any of the phenomenon affects to God. Those who started in the revival or because of it were not as cautious.
False Revival
This was a hard one to pin down in a bullet-point definition. However?
Mind-control techniques seem to reflect what is applicable.
1) Developing an intense atmosphere of companionship, trust, and common belief - i.e. a sense of “belonging”.
2) Giving no time to think or reflect on things, and having a chaotic, unpredictable atmosphere in which rational thought is difficult.
3) Camouflaging the belief being taught until the subject is willing to accept it.
4) Establishing that the old ways are no longer valid or effective, and deriding them in various ways.
If you wish to explore this further? Google “The Latter Rain Revival”
Lets review what Todd Bentleys web site claims he is doing.
Todd Bentley’s website, as well as ministry, is called “Fresh Fire Ministries”. This may be to demonstrate his “new” vision.
Taken from his website
Fresh Fire Ministries Vision is to see people revived in a new passion for Jesus, burning with the fire of evangelism to reach the lost. Fresh Fire achieves this goal through several conferences each year, literature, Todd Bentley and his FFM team take God’s saving, healing, delivering power to the nations.
In Addition Todd and his FFM team conduct many healing crusades throughout Africa, India, South America, Mexico, Europe, and beyond. Tens of Thousands have been saved, healed and delivered. Also, Fresh Fire ministries accommodates thousands in feeding outreach, building of orphanages, and hosts thousands each year in Pastor and leaders training, equipping and anointing services. Todd had not been spiritually born into, or grown up in a religious church environment. The first Christian book he had read was “Good Morning Holy Spirit” by Benny Hinn.
Over the next few months hundreds of hungry youth came and had encounters with the Holy Spirit. At times our Fresh Fire meetings would become Holy Spirit chaos. I remember meetings when the power of God would fall so that during the ministry time youth were sprawled all over the floor of the basement of the Anglican Church. Some were shaking or weeping as God did a deep work in their lives. Others were laughing hysterically as the Father gave them the joy of his love. Some youth were in intercessory travail praying and crying out for souls. In other parts of the room some youth would be worshipping passionately, some would be dancing to the Lord and others would be gathered in groups prophesying over each other. It seemed that even this prophetic anointing was being caught. Without much teaching on prophecy, the Spirit of prophecy would come on the place and youth would begin to prophesy spontaneously. We were all amazed at God’s powerful workings as he orchestrated our meetings, imparted a new passion for Jesus and changed lives.
There are many deceptions that are keeping revival from occurring. The western world has been brainwashed and blinded to the need for revival. This is occurring in churches and in all the other major organizations that are in control of what people think and supposedly “know.” We are all living in an illusion created for us by the enemies of God.
Before God ends the history of the earth, His enemies plan to destroy the American civilization we have known. The destruction of the earth in “the Day of the Lord” will be by God’s unilateral action; but the destruction of America is being implemented by deliberate actions of men who are led by the serpent who deceived Adam and Eve. God is allowing Satan to rule over us until or unless his “born-again” believers start following Him instead of the devil. As God says, they need to “humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.” (2 Chron. 7:14)
Stay tuned for Part Two…

Welcome and well done H8nS8n!
Bentley is a wierdy…the above video is very disturbing! Your bullet points regarding “False Revival” are well stated. In another Bentley video where he is explaining that Jesus is going to make a physical appearance at the next meeting you can see confusion on the audiences’ faces…shortly after he “softens” the “prophecy. O brother!
The Wittenburg Door was one of the first online resources I found during my journey to Reformed faith…thanks to all who contribute and make it possible.
One of my favs in your featured video clips is the Bishop Long “sperm” sermon…speaking of worship songs as “setting the mood” etc…wow…what a whack job!
Creflo was funny too and I’m strangely mesmerized by Paula White…maybe cuz she’s sooo pretty…lol…
Have you watched “Let the Bodies Hit the Floor” with Benny Hinn…that’s good stuff…you can’t make that up…
God’s grace to you…

Ok, you need full-screen to see this well. at .45 seconds in, on left side of frame,
you will see a man in “Hawaiian type” shirt, blue tee shirt enter view. At about 1.21 minutes in you see Todd Bentley go to him and pray with him
THE ONLY ONE IN VIDEO WITH A HOLY BIBLE ! Todd make a brief attempt to push him over. Guess what ? No TB infection here, NEXT ! Everyone goes into gyrations BEFORE the man with the Holy Bible, and AFTER him !
THE MAN WITH THE BIBLE IS PROTECTED !

You are giving, steroids a bad name, by associating Benny Hinn, with them.
These are part of the, what can God do for me, crowd. Whoever falls down the best (no hands), or shakes better is having the better “anointing” from God. Which, makes my more in touch with God, then you are, sinner. When I was part of the shake and bake crowd, we used to say, don’t catch them. If it hurts, they are in sin and they need to repent.
I remember, showing, the Pastor, that everyone that fall down in the presents of Jesus, were not for Jesus. The Temple guards and Saul (Paul). I have some family that are still into all that. It is sad, when I show them the Scripture, they say I’m wrong. What is even worst, is they believe the same things as the day, they started going to a Church other then the Catholic one. Which causes me to pray for their salvation.

Over at my blog, I was discussing the issue, and one of my friends raised the question that if in other religions there are faith healers, does this mean that as Christians we should stop asking to pray for healing to happen. Having prayed for and seen healing’s of various kinds, I had my own answer to the subject. You can see it on my blog. But what do you guys say?

Glen
I would say that we should keep praying for healing. The real answer is in what you describe as a healing. Is it someone laying their hands on you and “healing” you then you convolse on the floor? Or is it when your body is healed of any sickness through the power of God whether doctors are used or not?
I know that in my wife’s personal life that at one point she was so sick that the doctors did not know if she would live. The medicine that they were using was not working. She was scheduled to have her foot amputated as a last attempt to save her life. The night before the surgery the infection left her and she started to get better. Was it the antibiodics? Was it the doctors? or Was it God? There was no faith healer, but I believe that God did heal her.
I also believe that if you have a common cold and you get better that is also God healing you. See Col 1:15-17 (focus on 17). We see that God holds together and sustains all things. There is no atom in the universe that is outside His control.
So, yes we should pray for healing, but we should always keep that in the will of God. We need to remember that some sicknesses are for the glory of God.

This is a story about - Terri Schiavo….where are the Faith Healers ?
http://www.dailykos.com/story/2005/3/24/182950/828
H8n S8n grew-up with 2 decades of severe Asthma & Allergy. Doctors,
ER’s, injections and steroids were my childhood. Always picked last for
the team (Like Dr. Bob). No sports. I was allergic to night-air for a while.
Without reservation, I know I am alive today? My mothers PRAYERS !
Alive today, sans health problems !
One of the big problems I have with these faith healers, is the healing
is a scheduled event. And be sure the camera is rolling !
My version of “Let the bodies hit the floor” is “Let the heads bounce off
the floor” If God just healed them? He ain’t gunna give them a
concussion !

Another interesting note that I have not had the chance to completly study… I heard someone say that everytime in Scripture that you see someone falling down in worship they fall on their face, not their back… Interesting??? Has anyone seen a faith healing or slaying in the spirit where the person falls on their face?

This Website will go live on July 24, 2008
Codex Sinaiticus
Codex Sinaiticus is one of the most important books in the world. Handwritten well over 1600 years ago, the manuscript contains the Christian Bible in Greek, including the oldest complete copy of the New Testament. Its heavily corrected text is of outstanding importance for the history of the Bible and the manuscript - the oldest substantial book to survive Antiquity - is of supreme importance for the history of the book.
The Codex Sinaiticus Project
The Codex Sinaiticus Project is an international collaboration to reunite the entire manuscript in digital form and make it accessible to a global audience for the first time. Drawing on the expertise of leading scholars, conservators and curators, the Project gives everyone the opportunity to connect directly with this famous manuscript.
The Codex Sinaiticus Website
The first release of the Codex Sinaiticus Project website will be launched on 24 July 2008 here. The website will be substantially updated in November 2008 and in July 2009, by when the website will have been fully developed.
Note to Glen:
The next time H8n is interviewed by Frank (LOL ! ),
I will be sure to bring up your valad point.
So? Are you attempting to make the point that what Todd Bentley
is doing is not exactly “biblical”

H8n S8n,
I read the Bible through a few times and studied it for years. Never in any of my reading have I seen that we should be doing what Todd does. In fact I seem to remember that Paul tells us to have an orderly service (1 Cor 14) whether you believe that the gifts of the Spirit have ceased or not. Let me know the next time you are interviewed and a web link… I’d like to listen.

There’s a difference between, faith healer and praying for the sick or the pray of faith. Faith healers, are healing through their faith, in what I don’t know. The prayed of faith, for a sick person, is a pray to God, for Him to heal them. The faith is in God, not my ability or the person praying ability.
I don’t see, what is going on in this video, as gifts of the Spirit. The gifts and the fruit, do not contradict each other. There is defiantly no, self control in those people.
James 5:14,15 instructs the sick to call for the elders, to anoint them with oil and pray over them. Does God heal today, yes He does. Is it on command of some guy or gal, that uses it as the draw to their business, no, can He, yes, but not because of the person praying (so called). My ex-wife, had very bowed legs, as a child. Her mom took her to an Oral Roberts, healing crusade. Just to give you an idea of how bowed they were, she told me that, her mom had a picture of her, with a Tupperware bowl between her legs. Her legs were healed, she not bow legged anymore, she even had a certificate of healing, from Oral Roberts ministries. I would venture to say that at one time Oral, had the gift of healing, he was used by God, the Lord healed people by his gift. But once he made a business out of it, God stopped using him. Then the side show began, he had to keep face so they started all the weird stuff.
I believe that the gifts are for today, do I believe all of what goes on, under the guise of the gifts of the Spirit, are gifts of the Spirit, NO! Most if not all of the people that believe that these are gifts from God, also believe Christians can be demon possessed.
I haven’t did a study on people falling in worship, fall on their faces, but where I do remember people falling in worship, it is in a prostrate position. I have heard people say that, the priest fell down, at one of the Temple dedications, but I can’t find it.

The Wittenburg Door has a story on Mr.. Bentley:
Todd Bentley Fires Blanks in Texas
http://www.wittenburgdoor.com/todd-bentley-fires-blanks-texas
“His revivals resemble Pantera shows”
“”I’ve come here to help spread the fire,” Bentley says. “BAM! BAM!”
Four or five BAMs later Bentley utters an ear-shattering KABOOM in Miller’s direction and the Denton preacher falls over backwards, shaking and twitching like a slab of bacon that’s been thrown on a hot griddle.

Todd Bentley asked to step down by his own Board of Directors!
http://www.freshfire.ca/
In a open letter dated yesterday. I wonder if this means he will not be taking “The Arc of Gods Glory” to 38 cities, as he said he would. I waz kinna hoping a city in Georgia would be a planned stop for The Arc.
I hear they have been having trouble with the neighbors!

From the Board of Directors
We wish to thank all of our friends and partners for the overwhelming flood of support and compassion we have received as a ministry on behalf of Todd and Shonnah Bentley. The many phone calls and emails of concern from people who genuinely love the Bentleys and Fresh Fire Ministries have been a great encouragement to all of us here during these past few days. In particular, the rallying of support and prayer for Todd and Shonnah by prominent leaders within the Body of Christ has been a beautiful indicator of the maturity and grace the Lord is bringing to his Bride.
We wish to acknowledge, however, that since our last statement from the Fresh Fire Board of Directors, we have discovered new information revealing that Todd Bentley has entered into an unhealthy relationship on an emotional level with a female member of his staff. In light of this new information and in consultation with his leaders and advisors, Todd Bentley has agreed to step down from his position on the Board of Directors and to refrain from all public ministry for a season to receive counsel in his personal life.
