Table Talk Week: Questions From Table Talk 2
Continuing on here during Table Talk Week, here are the theological and apologetics questions that were asked at Table Talk 2.
1. When people use God’s name in vain, but say “God” rather than His name, is it still blaspheming even though His Hebrew names are YHWH, Elohim, etc?
2. Does the apostasy mentioned in Hebrews 6:4-8 refer to the elect falling away?
3. Who actually is the Antichrist? Is it the devil incarnate? Is it an individual who is evil and influenced? Is it the offspring of a demon that mates with a human? Is the Antichrist alive and kicking today?
4. Is 1 John 5:43 prophetic of a coming Antichrist. Or is there a specific verse that teaches that a future Antichrist will come?
5. Is there a time limit on backsliding?
6. You said you wouldn’t give assurance to anyone living in sin. How then could you give assurance to anyone since he may be living in sin two years from now?
7. Can we give anyone assurance of salvation?
8. In the gospel of John it mentions that Jesus breathed on them with the Holy Spirit. What does this mean?
9. My question is in reference to church history. I’ve read contrasting information about the persecution of the early Christians. Is there a good book on the history of Christian martyrs?
10. If a person is involved in an area of sin like homosexuality, and claims that they’re saved, can they delude themselves into thinking that everything is OK because there may be fruit in other areas of their life?
11. What about besetting sins?
12. If you wouldn’t mind, would you comment on Pentecost? Particularly in light of the way Messianic Jews view it.
13. How do you account for the end-times focus on Israel?
14. In the book of Revelation, what does the twelve gates in the temple mean?
15. Haven’t there always been Messianic Jews since the beginning?
16. Can you explain the difference between the preterist view of eschatology and the partial-preterist view?
17. When Jesus breathed on the disciples at Pentecost, was that regeneration?
18. In Act 8:14-17, were there two experiences of regeneration and empowerment?
19. Would you please exegete 1 Timothy 2:11-12? I want to know if the church can allow a female pastor.
20. Could you explain submission in the home of a woman in terms of Creation, Fall, and Redemption?
21. Are you clear that women can have opinions, discuss, etc. in church?
22. How does evangelism for a woman on a professional level fit in?
23. What about the ordination of women?
24. On the subject of angels, I’d like to know if we all have a guardian angel. And if so, do they just show up at a given time that we need them or are they always watching us?
25. On the order of Melchizidek, can you exegete this text and answer whether this refers to Jesus?
26. What if someone today says that we don’t need to fear God in a fearful sense, just a reverent respect?
27. In Romans it says tat the wages of sin is death. But in 1 John 5:16 mentions a sin that does not lead to death. I don’t understand this.
28. What is a sin that does not lead to death?
29. Would you agree that the pre-tribulation rapture nonsense that is so prevalent in our day could lead to the great apostasy because they will not end up getting what they expect?
30. Shouldn’t we refute pre-tribulation rapture views rather than simply accept it in love?
31. In Acts 1:6, didn’t the Talmudin ask that question because they were expecting the restoration of the twelve tribes under the kingdom of David?
32. Can a person be an inerrantist and still observe historical errors and variant readings, or other problems that there are in the Scriptures?
33. Is there a difference between the concept of God’s Word and Scripture as opposed to a concept of a book with type and words on them?
34. Why should we bother with the “Berean Principle” and check out teachers to make sure they aren’t teaching phony stuff? As the laity, scholars are just going to tell us that we don’t understand the language and grammar anyway, so why not just check them out?
35. You mentioned the International Standard Version of the Bible (ISV); I looked for a copy but couldn’t find one. How can I find one?
