Are Christians Suffering From “Fetus Fatigue”?

On Tuesday we will cast our votes for the presidential election. Surely I am not alone in being weary of this campaign. But Christian…we are “not to become weary in well doing” so…if you are reading this blog consider yourself exhorted to vote…for LIFE!

What is “Fetus Fatigue”?

Hank Hanegraaff recently posted a portion of an article by Douglas Groothuis, a professor of philosophy at Denver Seminary. Professor Groothius had this to say about Christians and abortion:

“…millions of evangelicals, especially young evangelicals, are experiencing fetus fatigue. They’re tired of the abortion issue taking center stage, so they’re moving unto newer, hipper things such as AIDS in Africa, the environment, and cool tattoos. Abortion has been legal now since 1973 -before they were born-so it’s the old guard that get worked up about the millions of abortions that have taken place over the years, to wit the idea of fetus fatigue.

That Barack Obama and the entire Democratic Party are pro-choice is a secondary concern to them. After all, these young people reason that Obama could not do much damage concerning abortion. They may be thinking, “No he wouldn’t enact Pro-Life policies but he says he wants abortions to decrease.” In the midst of such causal sentiment Groothuis says, “I’m compelled to say in no uncertain terms ‘For God’s sake evangelicals, if that word has any meaning today, please wake up and consider the acres of tiny bloody corpses that you cannot see.”

To read a bit more of the Groothuis article go here.

Let us take a brief look, so to speak, at “the acres of tiny bloody corpses that (we) cannot see”. If the following videos do not break your heart, then perhaps it is made of stone. You are about to meet Jill Stanek, a nurse from Illinois. Watch as even the typically verbose O’Reilly struggles for words when responding to Jill’s unbelieveable story.

Here Jill Stanek talks about Obama’s voting record…his vote for INFANTICIDE!

In yet another facet of this story we hear Jill tell about the final moments of a little Downs Syndrome baby’s life following a doctors’ incomplete abortion attempt…IOW, his death sentence.

Hopefully by now you are repulsed by what you have read, seen and heard.

Consider this Biblical wisdom from John Piper:

“To put it positively: the destruction of conceived human life – whether embryonic, fetal, or viable – is an assault on the unique person-forming work of God. Abortion is an assault on God, not just man. God is uniquely at work in the womb from the moment of conception. This is the clear testimony of Psalm 139:13 and Job 31:15″.

The Washington Times quotes Obama as saying:

“The first thing I will do as President is sign the Freedom of Choice Act.” This bill (FOCA) would codify the 1973 Supreme Court decision, Roe v. Wade, into law in ALL the states and it would also OVERTURN state laws that have been passed to limit or delay abortions.

There is much more that could be written here. Christian, I urge you not to become weary in doing the good deeds your heavenly Father planned for you to do before the foundation of the world! Study the Scriptures, read the above links and exhort everyone you know to vote LIFE!

I’ll leave you with wisdom from our beloved Spurgeon:

“Murders themselves arise from the evil passions of the human heart. If the fire was not there temptation could not fan it to a flame. Is it not because men love themselves better than their neighbours that they commit murder?”

God’s grace…

  1. Thanks Reformed Mama. That was powerful. Most people sit and worry about who will make the best President for their pocketbook, and forget all about Life.
How long do we think God will continue to let our Country prosper anyway when we’ve murdered 40 million babies on the alter of Molech?

Our Governor of Alaska, Sarah Palin, is a STRONG pro-lifer, and continues to have my support.

  2. Reformed Mama

Hi Josh…it’s been awhile since we have heard from you!

It is sobering to realize that B. Hussien Obama supports not only the evil practice of baby murder…but an evil practice that will claim the lives of more than 4 times the amount of blacks as whites!

“Mr. Obama wants to uphold an abortion policy that has a disproportionate impact on blacks. The Alan Guttmacher Institute, a nonprofit organization focused on sexual and reproductive health research, finds that 13 percent of the U.S. population is black, but 37 percent of all abortions are performed on black women and teens: Blacks are 4.8 times as likely as whites to have an abortion. A vote for Mr. Obama is, in effect, a vote that permits the disproportionate elimination of blacks in America. “-Washington Times

Most of us here at BT LOVE Sarah Palin too!!

  3. My view isn’t popular, but here it goes……

I believe a person is either totally Pro-Life or totally Pro-Abortion. In other words, its an all or nothing stand. Being pro-life EXCEPT……really IS being pro-Abortion “when”……

That is why I won’t vote for McCain. He is “pro-life except in the cases of rape and incest” and is for embryonic stem cell research. That is NOT being pro-life: that is pro-abortion in certain circumstances.

All human life is precious regardless of his or her circumstances of conception. Its not the baby’s fault how or where or by whom it was conceived. So why do “Pro-Life” folks stand behind a man who thinks it is?

My call is to Christians to take a stand against ALL ABORTIONS. Its either all murder or not at all. We are not called to situational ethics. We are called to biblical doctrine and truth. Let’s keep that bar high and live according to it!

    Hi Denise~

Are you of the opinion that Obama should win and then Republicans will “learn their lesson”? Just curious…

I am NO McCain fan but I am a “one starfish at a time” mama. Can’t save all starfish (babies) but prayerfully…some.

Be careful with your rigid reasoning. A well known Christian apologist has an adult child who recently came out with a public statement making it known that they will be voting for Obama since he’s “a man of his word”…a supporter of BABY-MURDER but a “man of his word” nonetheless. This person and their spouse claim that McCain flip-flops on the issue of abortion and doesn’t go far enough with the pro-life stance. Both are true. However, how does one conclude that NO starfish are better than SOME???

When I speak of “saving some”, I am speaking about not signing items such as FOCA, funding for abortion issues and judicial appointments. These are all things we can kick and scream for once McCain is in whereas with Obama…umm NOT!

I beg you to reconsider your vote!!

  5. Sir Aaron

So Denise, you wont cast a ballot at all? In Texas, I had three choices. Bob Barr, John McCain, and Obama.

Obama is clearly not just pro-abortion but wildly so. An all Democratic government will eliminate every por-life gain ever made and make abortion legal until at least the actual due date. And….AND…there are some wild liberals who think that children don’t become people until they are two. A No vote is a vote for Obama.

  6. Sir Aaron

It doesn’t matter now. Obama is now our next President.

May God help us even though we certainly aren’t deserving.

  7. Reformed Mama

Hi Aaron…though I KNOW God is in control…I am deeply saddened for many reasons…

  8. Sir Aaron

    The LORD gave and the LORD has taken away;
may the name of the LORD be praised.

Maybe this is a sign that the end is coming quickly.

  9. Reformed Mama, oh dear NOOOO! Obama wasn’t an option nor was McCain for some of the same reasons (abortion, feminism, etc).

  10. Here we are now with a president that can overturn any steps forwards and worse. I didn’t hear about his FOCA comment, but UGH that just adds to everything. His socialist ideology, his terrorist and Islam buddies… You know, his tax ideas will keep the legal immigrents from Asia and India from coming here, becoming doctors, spend money (i’m talking about those who become residents, not just temporary student visa) and move our country forward, while homeland security lessens and more illegal immigrents come in with hands out for the wealth Obama wants to spread around. With more control on the market and higher taxes, the wealth will not grow and there will not be anything to spread to all wanting. It’s only jealousy of those who work hard that caused Obama to gain office. That and stupidity. And racism by anyone who voted for him simply because he’s black.

I think i shall be writing something on this to flesh out my thoughts more and figure out what to do next. A president can help but we can’t force people to act rightly. Now that laws on abortion isn’t the answer, we revert to what should be our goal all the time, heart understanding. Evangelism is the only way to see real change. Same reasons i’m not for a theocracy, ever. Maybe Obama is a blessing in disguise. He has the power to destroy, but God has oh so much power than he so now is a good opportunity to see the Holy Spirit in action. Not up in the spotlight, but down here on the streets. So people can vote better next time or overthrow him sooner if he gets really out of control. What better setting for a reformation revolution?

  11. Sir Aaron

Denise: Who was your other option? Bob Barr? He was the only other candidate on my ballot.

Mrs. Watkins: I hate to say it, but even if we were successful in getting McCain elected, we were only temporarily stemming the tide.

The problem isn’t just our elected officials, who are most certainly wicked. Why anybody would think that cheating on your spouse is not relevant to one’s career in politics is beyond comprehension. If they can’t be true to somebody they claimed to love moe than anything else, how will they be true to people they don’t know personally? And yet it seems that we constantly hear about the sexual exploits of our political leaders. This just goes to support what James White said. The people are voting for evil because they are evil. How else could you explain the defeat of nearly every pro-life initiative? How else could you explain the significant portion of the population that voted FOR same sex marriage?

Our pulpits are infected with heresy. Until we fix that, we’re just plugging the dam with our fingers.

  12. Sir Aaron

    One more thing:

“So people can vote better next time or overthrow him sooner if he gets really out of control.”

I have a prediction about all of this, but I have difficulty convincing people of the truth. I’ll share if you’re interested, but I find that most Christians aren’t interested such things. I find it interesting that people who tell me I have a gift of prophecy are the same ones who ignore me when I give one. Of course, I don’t think its prophecy to tell somebody that they’ll get hit by a car if they play in the street.

  13. Sir Aaron

You Christians who did not vote or went third-party, you can tell yourselves you did otherwise. You didn’t allow the attacker to assault that helpless victim. No, not you. You drew a picture of a devastating raygun, and waved it at him vigorously, yelling “Zap! Zap!”, hoping he’d fall over.

    Alas, he did not.

I really like this guy’s blog.
    http://bibchr.blogspot.com/

  14. Well, as it so happens, i am interested in difficult predictions. ~__^

(Btw, this is Mrs. Watkins. I got so excited to use my new name but then i was being inconsistent so i’m trying to stick with Becky while commenting.)

However, just know that i don’t believe in prophecies in a fortune teller type of way. More like having something pressed upon your heart strongly or sensing sin when others don’t.

So i’ll hear your hypothesis based on a logical interpretation of current & past events. ^__^

  15. Oh and i did not intend to imply that McCain would make everything better. He just would not destroy our country as Obama very well could. Only time will tell.

    I’m optmistic, so:
    1) On the bright side, it’s fun seeing history being made with our first black president. I hope i’ll get to see the first woman president too, just not Hilary. I really liked Palin!
    2) The country he could create…what better setting for a great awakening, eh? Or revolution (just hopefully not communist revolution). Or Reformation. Or all of the above.

Things get worse before they get better, and things definitely aren’t as bad as they could be here. America has been blessed since her birth. We were founded on Christian principles (whether the atheists like it or not) and have been slipping and slipping from it the whole time. Maybe we’ve found God’s mercy for so long so we can help other countries, but if we are refusing to do that then who knows how long this will last? It’s time for the Christian community to rise. If we don’t, we’ll be forced underground as our country goes communist.

I may be sounding extreme, but that is the way i am, not liking to be caught offguard. I’d rather be wrong than surprised.

  16. Sir Aaron

Becky=Mrs Watkins? I’m not sure which to address you by now!

I think I owe you an apology. Based on my Bible study, this may indeed, be a time for us to lament.

As for prophecy…I don’t really consider it prophecy. Like I said, telling somebody that playing with fire will get you burned is not prophetic, at least not in my book. I’ll give you my hypothesis (I wouldn’t call it that either…more of a cause and effect type conclusion) later. My excitement for writing is waning by the moment. I feel more and more like Jeremiah did in the book of Lamentations.

P.S. I forgot to put my previous post in quotes. That post was a copy from the blog I referenced.

  17. Sir Aaron

I don’t think you’re being extreme. I think we need to prepare for that eventuality.

  18. Haha i’ll answer to anything. Except Steve. That would totally throw people off.

Moderator: Can you deny the comment i made right before this? I apparently can’t spell my own email.

[NOTE FROM MODERATOR: CAUGHT IT! FOUND THE MISSING "I"]

  20. I don’t see politics as pragmatic, but it seems most do. I see politics as a reflection of what a person truly believes. I truly believe abortion is always wrong, always murder, so for me to vote my support for a man who thinks its ok in certain circumstances, is going contrary to what I believe–namely Scripture.

Voting requires to vote FOR a person. There’s no such thing as an anti-vote. Don’t put man’s evil on my hands. I have kept them clean before God. I have been bullied by many like you Aaron, who say that while not supporting the lesser of two evils I am supporting evil and that is just totall unbiblical. Besides the fact that I have been praying about this whole thing. I have stuck with biblical principles and all I get is fire from proclaiming Christians as if I commited evil. Its as if one’s Christianity is now determined by voting or not voting. Amazing.

  21. I don’t agree with your voting method, Denise, but many do and have good enough reasons that we shouldn’t be calling them evil. A conservative vote doesn’t count in California anyway, so at least here a Christian can logically and Biblically either vote red, third, or not at all.

  22. Here’s a touching story about a baby that wasn’t aborted despite not having a chance. She ended up being born and passed soon after but it’s beautiful that the family treasured her life and tried to make every moment count.

  23. Sir Aaron

The missionaries that my church supports were visiting from England today. They said tht the UK passed a measure that allows for a woman to conceive a child for the sheer purpose of harvesting the organs for a sibling. Talk about disgusting.

  24. Ew. But how exactly would that work? They wouldn’t be developed to the proper level, right?

  25. That is sick, disgusting, perverted, wretched, awful, and words fail me at this point. Satan is really trying to destroy human life.

Lord, please touch the hearts of many that this never happens here in America.

  26. Sir Aaron

    Becky:

I’m not completely clear on the how. I think it runs two ways. First, creating embryos for implantation via IVF and eliminating any embryos that don’t match the genetic traits necessary. The second is probably firt creating a “designer” baby and then when it is old enough, have the new child donate bone marrow or part of an organ (a kidney or something) for the older sibling.

I’m pasting a link to a news article that discusses this as well as the fact that scientist either want to or already are creating half human half animal embryos.

The other interesting thing that the missionaries told me is that there is an increase in genetic disorders (autism, etc.) because of the numerous sexual partners (Apparently causing inbreeding since you could be sleeping with a cousin, etc. and not know it). One example he gave was of a woman who had 9 children with 7 different men.

Glen: I’m not sure that even “abomination” is a strong enough word for these reprehensible actions.

Once again the Bible’s truth rings in our minds that the boundless depravity of man shows no end in sight of the evil it can produce and rationalize.

This Spurgeon quote continues to amaze me (although I guess it shouldn’t):

“Murders themselves arise from the evil passions of the human heart. If the fire was not there temptation could not fan it to a flame. Is it not because men love themselves better than their neighbours that they commit murder?”
