Job

“Then they sat down on the ground with him for seven days and seven nights with no one speaking a word to him, for they saw that his pain was very great.” Job 2:13

Let us ask a question. How important is the book of Job in the canon of Scripture?

The book of Job is of extreme importance and sadly has seldom been taught to the Christian. Job is foundational to the biblical world view. This book which has been looked over by most Christians, teaches us the biblical view of the origin, nature, attributes, meaning, and purpose of evil.

Job, just in case you did not know, was the first book ever written and establishes the deeply important principle of Sola Scriptura. For this reason, Job refutes the claims of natural theology, philosophy, and law.

Job’s friends were humanistic in the way they viewed life. They saw man as the origin of truth, justice, morals, meaning, and beauty. They hailed man as being the ultimate measure of all things, including God and evil. Job endured the adversity that came his way! Satan did bring about the adversity, however, he had to ask permission from the LORD. Job is the great example of how we are to cope with evil circumstances in our lives. We should not look at evil as the “problem.” We should look to the Sovereign LORD who holds all the answers to life!

Special revelation is foundational for what a true Christian is to believe. Come down on Monday nights and dive into the word and grow in the grace and knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ! Visit www.faithdenders.com for directions.
