Homosexual “Reverend” Stands Against Prop. 8

Mario Herrera

None of these things should surprise us! Listen to this “reverend” tell us about God’s love. Here is a excerpt from his bio from his church’s website:

“Reverend Dr. Neil G. Thomas is currently the Senior Pastor of the Metropolitan Community Church, Los Angeles, the founding church of Metropolitan Community Churches, an international movement of churches reaching in and beyond the gay, lesbian, bisexual, trans, queer, questioning, and inter-sex community.”

This apostate reverend is actively fighting for homosexuals in overturning proposition 8. He has put out a call to all Christians to stop judging and start loving! Neil, you sir are deceived and on your way to eternal damnation! Has anyone warned you to flee from the wrath to come? It is obvious that no one has! Well, we are calling you to repent from your abominable wicked sin and turn in faith to the true Christ of Scripture! Tear down your idol of the false god you worship! May God have mercy on you and those who follow you!

  1. Hey Mario,

    Check out this crazy link…

  2. Sir Aaron

I can’t summon up the fortitude to watch this video clip.

I really don’t understand how you can legitimize homosexual marriage and not polygamy and fornication.

  3. Joey Frascella

Need I say francis schaefer again lol??

  4. I saw this God-hater out at the protest in West LA on Friday, on the news. He is living out Romans 1:32:

Rom 1:32 Though they know God’s decree that those who practice such things deserve to die, they not only do them but give approval to those who practice them.

  5. Ah, just caught that—Metropolitan Community Institute —Ray Boltz’s denomination. Bet Ray and his homosexual-rights-advocate wife were out protesting after the passage of the righteous Prop. 8 law.

  6. **Correction** “Ray Boltz’ homosexual-rights-activist-ex-wife” And yes, I meant “institute” since its not a church in the least. Its a club for God-haters.

  7. >He has put out a call to all Christians to stop judging and start loving!

I guess he should heed his own advice first. Physician, heal thyself!

  8. ReformedRich

Steve, Look’s like those spiders are working! Mario check out this link.

  9. Rich,

    Provide link…

  10. They are coming out of the woodwork. Ed Bacon from an Anglican Church in Pasadena is speaking out and is exposing himself as the angel that he is, angel of light that is! Heretic and anti-christ!

    Hello,

Most Christians articulate the errors of homosexuality by quoting a series of verses. Since Scripture is not their authority, and since many are blinded via their reprobate nature, this become extremely unfruitful.

The best polemical (or apologetical) means of refutation is of course puting the burden of proof back where it belongs, – on the homosexual.

And since their entire defense of their immorality are empirical “tid bits” of Instrumentalism (Dewey) and Utilitarianism (Locke, Mill, etc), a simple explanation of the inconsistencies of such “systems” is an immediate destruction of the legs holding up their tables of thought.

Morey discusses the Define, Document and Defend. Sometimes, we as Christians need to to this via presuppositional “givens.”

The “no-nos of discussion are somtimes the quickest way to kill a fly.

  12. Sir Aaron

arguing with a homosexual is always unfruitful. The lifestyle is so degenerate that they will use anything to justify their lifestyle. The only message that we can carry is that of the gospel and hope that God has elected that they receive the message.

  13. I agree with Aaron. Homosexuals need the gospel, not a long drawn-out debate.

You can’t “prove” to them of their sin by skipping over what Scripture says and just go to their way of thinking. Frankly, they don’t think; they react. They are some of the most vile, immature, unreasonable people I’ve ever seen.

What they need is the Gospel, not shots fired in their logic (even though that’s easy to do). They don’t care about whether they are consistant or not. They will do and say everything and anything for shock value and rebellion.

Speak to their real need: their depravity and need of the Savior Jesus Christ the Lord. They are some of the most miserable people I know and observe. They are truly hopeless, “without God in this world”. Its truly a shame.

  14. Sir Aaron

“They are some of the most miserable people I know and observe”

Indeed. And yet, they wont be happy until they get everyone else to be as depraved as they.

  15. Careful Sir and Denise. Remember that not all homosexuals are created equal. Such stereotypes is only an us vs them attitude and not fruitful either.

  16. Sir Aaron

Equally sinful and equally going to hell, unless we evangelize and God is pleased to save them.

  17. True, but it is inaccurate to say they are all vial or trying to get everyone more depraved. I’ve known quite a few homosexuals in my day, the kind that don’t flaunt, and they aren’t trying to make others gay or anything. Quiet about it usually. Defend themselves of course when attacked, but usually not in your face.

  18. *in your face trying to persuade you to accept their view when not attacked.

  19. Romans 1 shows us the downgrade of people into homosexuality. They are very rebellious in their hearts. They are God-haters and Christian haters. Whether they are outspoken to us is a matter of time. The homosexual community is a very tight and peer-pressure place.

Homosexuals know they are in sin, but rebell against the Truth.

Btw Paul made this statement that I think many would consider a “logical fallacy”:

Tit 1:12 One of the Cretans, a prophet of their own, said, “Cretans are always liars, evil beasts, lazy gluttons.” 13 This testimony is true. Therefore rebuke them sharply, that they may be sound in the faith,

There are certain things about the homosexual community that are true, even if there are individual exceptions to the rule. Across the board, they are angry and rebellious. Its merely a matter of time before they get in your face because they know they are wrong.

Look at how the Lord describes them:

Rom 1:28 And since they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God gave them up to a debased mind to do what ought not to be done.
Rom 1:29 They were filled with all manner of unrighteousness, evil, covetousness, malice. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, maliciousness. They are gossips,
Rom 1:30 slanderers, haters of God, insolent, haughty, boastful, inventors of evil, disobedient to parents,
Rom 1:31 foolish, faithless, heartless, ruthless.
Rom 1:32 Though they know God’s decree that those who practice such things deserve to die, they not only do them but give approval to those who practice them.

  20. Well, as long as you admit it’s the collective homosexual community that is like that.

And with your quoting Romans, you are saying that of all unregenerate sinners, so at least you aren’t singling out homosexuals. That’s where we get a problem, is people single them out, as if their sin is unique. They are no different from Joe Theif or Sally Murderer.

Anyone could get hostile with a matter of time, but we are to hope/try/pray that they can be changed before it gets to that point. There is a heart difference between homosexual tendencies and flat out flamboyance, even if they are on the same path. The deeper in sin, the more desperate it seems, although that could be a favorite point for God to save from.

  21. Sir Aaron

Becky said: “And with your quoting Romans, you are saying that of all unregenerate sinners, so at least you aren’t singling out homosexuals. That’s where we get a problem, is people single them out, as if their sin is unique. They are no different from Joe Theif or Sally Murderer.”

I cannot speak for Denise, but I can tell you that this is not at all what I took away from her response. And I completely disagree that all sins are the same.

I will agree with you that in one sense, all sins are equal in that all sin deserves eternal separation from God. Any one sin is enough to keep us out of Heaven. James 2:10-11 would certainly illustrate this fact. In this sense even the littlest sins makes us guilty of the entire law and this is offensive to God who is pure, righteous, and Holy. His justice demands punishment of even one sin. He is unable to live in the presence of even one little sin (Habakkuk 1:13, Psalms 130:3; 143:2, Romans 3:23).

But all sins are NOT the same or equal in their effects and judgements. God clearly sees some sins as more wicked and heinous than others. A survey of Biblical text will show again and again that sins are of a different magnitude. For example, there are eleven sins listed in the Old Testament that require the death penalty. Why did God tell the judges to give different punishments, if all sins are exactly the same? God called some sin an abomination. There are also passages in the Old Testament which speak of “great sin”: Exodus 32:21,30,31 and 2 Kings 17:21. In the New Testament Jesus talked about “least commandments” (Matthew 5:19) implying that although all commandments are important, some commandments are more important than others. Jesus also talks about an “eternal sin” (Mark 3:29) which cannot be forgiven. This shows that Jesus makes distinctions in the penalties of sins. See also Matthew 18:6 – the sin of hurting little children. Jesus in speaking with Pilate says that others have the “greater sin” for His death (John 19:11).

If I might offer an example to illustrate my point: Lusting after a woman is a sin (Matt 5:27). It is enough to keep you from God’s presence (without the righteousness of Christ) and lusting should be avoided with God’s help. In this way, it is exactly the same as the sin of physically committing adultery (Matthew 5:28-30). But lusting is NOT the same thing as actually physically committing adultery. Committing adultery is an act with devastating consequences and greater penalties (1 Corinthians 6:9). The effects of lusting in my mind and physically going to bed with someone are very different. Their judgments are also different (Hebrews 13:4).

Certainly God, through Scripture, differentiates between different types of sin and therefore, we ought to treat some sins more seriously than others.

Now moving back to Denise’s exposition of Romans chapter 1, we see that God will judge and punish certain sinners by allowing that sinner to fall deeper into sin. He stops convicting, He stops calling. Genesis chapter 6 says, “My Spirit will not always strive with man.” There comes a point when God says, “That’s it! I’m letting you go.” And when God lets a society go, verse 24 says, “He gives them over to uncleanness”, i.e. sexual sin. Then verse 26, “He gives them up to vile passions, and women exchange the natural use for what is against nature. Likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust for one another, men with men committing what is shameful.” So you have lesbianism and homosexuality. When God gives a society up they plunge into sexual sin and then they sink deeper into homosexual sin.

In conclusion, no sinner, including myself, is good enough to justify himself before God. We have to call every sinner, including a homosexual, to repentance and offer that individual sinner the grace and the forgiveness of God. We must also be careful not to judge hypocritically. I know that I am far from perfect (What a wretched man am I!). But this fact should not delude us into thinking that murdering somebody carries the same weight as stealing a pack of gum. In the same way, we should not deceive ourselves into thinking that homosexuality ought not be considered any more serious than any other sin. Both a common cold and pneumonia are illnesses that have similar symptoms…but would you not treat one more proactively and with more concern than the other? Homosexuality is a deeply offensive sin that represents a more advanced level of spiritual depravity and when society at large affirms homosexuality, it is evidence that God has turned that society over to sin…He has abandoned it.

  22. jackie

this is so sad. what makes all of you so much better than homosexuals? homosexuality is not a capital sin in the christian religion. in the ten commandmandments does it say “thou shalt not be homosexual”? all of you have probably done things that go against the ten commandmants anyway. simple sins like lying and cheating, thinking sexually of someone who is not yours, borrowing without giving that thing back, not showing steadfast love.really? why do you feel that you have the right to take marriage away from people who have been oppressed for thousands of years and have never committed real sins? their only different, and different doesn’t work for the catholic church for some reason! every gay person i know has said that they have never been attracted to someone of the opposite sex. a lot of those people are christian and have been baptized… isn’t baptism supposed to wash away your sin? well then how come these men and women have always been gay? the US, where the prop 8 controversy is happeneing, the country is a secular state, this means that the citizens and the overnment should not be making decisions based on their religion, they should be making decisions in the best interest of their country and its citizens as a whole. if you vote for prop 8 really you are making an ignorant and unpatriotic decision. I respect that all of you guys have your beliefs, though they might be outdated, but believe what you want without infringing on the rights of others. i don’t know where you guys are from, but in my country, acting on a belief that discriminates against others is illegal. preventing equality is a sin, not homosexuality.

  23. Travis

    Jackie,

The point isnt which sin is worse the point is we all need to repent from our sin, and homosexualality is just as much sin as stealing adultry etc…

so all homosexuals, thiefs, sodomited….need to repent as well as myself i need to repent of my sin. Just because it is the cultural norm to say homosexuality is okay doesnt mean that scripture says it isnt okay.

If we use your way of thinking and say I think stealing is okay, then why should i not come to your house and steal from you, ill even call myself a Christian while I am doing it, in the name of god.

lets talk about what scripture says instead of what the liberal church says, it says

  24. Jackie,

Ditto Travis. Who is claiming to be greater than homosexuals? We don’t follow the Decalogue alone. Homosexuality is condemned in the Bible. Just because we are sinners doesn’t mean we should endorse sin. Au contraire, we should encourage and rebuke each other to turn from it.

Also, it’s not taking marriage away from the homosexuals. It’s stopping the homosexuals from taking marriage from it’s proper place and meaning. If the government never got involved, and it was still only within the realm of church and family, the homosexuals wouldn’t even care about joining in. They are just trying to make a cultural statement. It has nothing to do with so-called fundamental rights.

They have not been oppressed for thousands of years. They have definitely committed real sins. Nobody is sinless, not me, you, or them. No one is good, no not one.

The Catholic church is irrelevant here. We are protestants and believe Rome to be full of heresy.

If a christian they aren’t attracted to opposite sex, that just means they are called to singlehood, which is a blessing because they potentially have more time for the kingdom, without the responsibility of family. Practicing homosexuality and trying to control the urges are two different things. A gay person can be saved, but that would just be their besetting sin. We all have them. If they completely overcome it, another one with pop up. No one is perfect on this earth.

Nope, sorry, water baptism does NOT wash away sin. It is only symbolic of the Holy Spirit batism that takes place at regernation

why have they always been gay? the depravity of man. we’re all born in to sin. Children don’t have to be taught to lie, but does that make it okay? What if i like to shove people to the ground? I was born that way, you can’t change me!

Truth is unchanging and eternal, incapable of being outdated.

The rights are freedom, life, etc. Marriage is not that. Marriage is a covenant before God between a man and a woman and was designed to be a mini portrait of the relationship between Christ and the church.

Legalization of homosexual marriage would be infringing upon OUR rights to freedom of religion and speech. If anyone says anything against it, it would be considered hate speech. Churches would lose their non-profit status if they don’t conform to secular, liberal ways. We can’t change Truth just because it’s cool to be gay now.

  25. Sir Aaron

Jackie: “this is so sad. what makes all of you so much better than homosexuals?”

Sir Aaron: Nobody has said we are better in that we commit no sins. In fact, we as Christians admit that we are sinners and therefore are in need of a Saviour to redeem us. We believe Jesus is that Savior, that is fully God and Man, and that he died to pay the penalty for our sins, and then rose from the dead to claim victory over sin. The difference between ourselves and homosexuals is that we do not claim that practicing sin is ok. And we do not condone any Christian who continues to live an active sinful lifestyle.

Jackie: “homosexuality is not a capital sin in the christian religion.”

Sir Aaron: Christianity is not a form of government in that it prescribes punishment for specific conduct. You’ll notice in the New Testament that there are no judicial references to thievery, adultery, or murder. That isn’t because Christianity does not believe there should be no earthly consequences for certain sins, but because it is assumed that such punishment was covered in the Old Testament.

Jackie “all of you have probably done things that go against the ten commandmants anyway. simple sins like lying and cheating, thinking sexually of someone who is not yours, borrowing without giving that thing back, not showing steadfast love.really?”

Sir Aaron: This sounds like me when I was a kid. “But Mom, so and so did it.” Sin by others doesn’t excuse sin. Besides slipping up and committing a sin is a far cry from actively engaging in sin and then condoning the sin as proper.

Jackie: “every gay person i know has said that they have never been attracted to someone of the opposite sex. a lot of those people are christian and have been baptized… isn’t baptism supposed to wash away your sin? well then how come these men and women have always been gay?”

Sir Aaron: I personally have issues with any person who is involved in the homosexual lifestyle (read actively engaging in homosexual sex) calling themselves a Christian. I have the same issues with those who actively engage in adultery or any other sinful lifestyle. Secondly, baptism doesn’t wash away your sin. Otherwise, we’d just get baptized and be good to go. Baptism is a outward sign of inward faith. It represents the washing away of sins by our Saviour, Jesus Christ.

Jackie: “why do you feel that you have the right to take marriage away from people who have been oppressed for thousands of years and have never committed real sins?”

Sir Aaron: They never marriage in the first place, so nobody is takinig away anything. Secondly, homosexuality itself is a sin and many crimes have been committed by homosexuals in the past. They are currently committing sins now. Threatening to rape and murder others who don’t agree with them? Violently interrupting church services? What do you call that?

Jackie: “i don’t know where you guys are from, but in my country, acting on a belief that discriminates against others is illegal. preventing equality is a sin, not homosexuality.”

Sir Aaron: Jackie, most of us currently reside in the U.S. But I can tell you that we all think of ourselves as strangers in a foreign land. We don’t really care what the locals think is right and just, we only care what God tells is right and just. And that’s what you should care about.

  26. “I respect that all of you guys have your beliefs, though they might be outdated, but believe what you want without infringing on the rights of others. i don’t know where you guys are from, but in my country, acting on a belief that discriminates against others is illegal. preventing equality is a sin, not homosexuality.”–Jackie

    1) I don’t see that you “respect” our beliefs at all. Rather you are insulting what we believe.

    2) Tomorrow they are having “Call in “Gay” day” to show the rest of us how we “need” homosexuals in the work place. How about that infringement on the rest of us? How about the homosexual protests that were very violent here in California last month, keeping the rest of the people from using the streets? How about them trespassing and stealing our pro-Prop 8 yard signs?

There is no such “right” or thing as a homosexual marriage. God, as Creator is the determiner of what marriage is, and HE said it is a man and a woman.

Of course the most important issue isn’t about numbers, but about what God has already made clear: homosexuality is a grevious sin and earns hell and is something that is unnatural according to God.

  27. Jackie:

1Co 6:9 Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality,

Jud 1:7 just as Sodom and Gomorrah and the surrounding cities, which likewise indulged in sexual immorality and pursued unnatural desire, serve as an example by undergoing a punishment of eternal fire.

God and His standards have not changed: His holiness and justice are still the standard by which all things are measured and all things fall short.

As others stated already, all unregenerate and unrepentant sinners who die in that state will go to Hell, because God is Holy and is Just. His justice MUST be upheld. The only way to deal with sin, then, is if you go to hell yourself, for eternity, or you trust completely in the Person and work of Jesus Christ.

Jesus is God the Son, came to Earth from Heaven, took on human form, was born of a virgin, lived perfectly, died on the cross for sins even though He was sinless, taking the Father’s wrath against sinners, then He rose again from the dead on the third day according to the Scriptures. He alone is the only Way, Truth, and Life. No one goes to the Father in Heaven accept by full trust and faith in Him alone. Your works can’t get you there, nor abstaining from certain works. Its solely by God’s grace that we are saved.

  28. John

When I was unsaved I was never attracted to the truth, lies were much easier to tell than the truth. I was never attracted to love others I was attracted to hating others, regularly, thinking of ways in which to hurt someone, take something from an enemy or just seek my own revenge. I was never attracted to hard work, or a myriad of other things. It was in my blood, there was not an honest bone or loving thing in my heart. When my mom died, I was frankly relieved I could do what I wanted when I wanted. I was 14. I never even cried.

What makes me any different from the homosexual who declares his attraction ‘only’ for the same sex? I was born that way as much as any homosexual was born attracted to the same sex. It was part of me, inside of me, I thought little of morals, good religious appearances..ha…I could care less. The excuse of homosexual attraction, born that way, or homosexual genes….Ill have you know their on their way to proving I have a theft and lying gene as well. It really doesnt matter 1 iota what claims the homosexual man or woman make in order to live autonomously in resistance to God.

Just in case you think the bible doesnt even address such a thing, your wrong. The bible addresses our sinful nature and an inborn enmity against God that is alive and well from birth. This enmity is so active it permeates all our thoughts, intentions, will, desires; it effects everything we do in our lives before God ‘deal’s with us. It doesnt matter at all that the chosen sin of some is homosexuality, they are default hell bound long before they have compiled a thought out justification for homosexual activity. God has seen into your heart and mine and theirs as well. Long before homosexualty flowered into another sin against God, rebellion and hatred toward Him was alive and well.

In the end, when all men and women come to the mirror of God’s word, they will know that they have a far bigger problem than the justifications of homosexuality, far bigger than the stigma of being rejected by society for ‘attractions’ that were normal for them.
Their own sins will find them out, homosexuality is only one on a long list of damning sins which entrap men and women in the confusion of sexual desire misplaced, Devotion to humanity misplaced and misused because God’s word was not believed, the watchmens warnings were not heeded….and judgment will fall indiscriminately upon the heterosexual pedophile, the liar and theif, the blasphemer and angry man, the hater and violent man. All of these ‘proclivities, attractions, characteristics, natures and whatever else is contrary to sound doctrine will God purge from the earth.

Jesus Christ has been offered in several posted messages, take heed and humble yourself unto God. Until I was born of God I never one single day woke up attracted to God, I never thought one time about Jesus Christ, I could care less. Should I based upon ‘attraction’ remain alienated from God? Should I remain in my ‘natural’ state because I was born this way? I tell you, God did something wonderful for me, He overcame my ‘hating God’ and replaced it with loving God. If God cannot overcome homosexuality, He cannot overcome any sin.

  29. John

The homosexual activist, this is a person who has determined that their activities are deserving more than involvement but propogation. Some seek to defend it as an ‘alternative’, some seek to validate with pseudo-science newsweek articles, some seek to proselytize the youth and promote a pro-gay agenda. The pro-gay agenda realizes all three things, validations, propogation, involvement. Its important for the believer to remain actively resistant to these virulent strains of lies propogated in our culture. It should be very clear that an ‘alternative’ is clearly proclaimed from the Christian camp as well. The alternative is not heterosexuality per-se but Christ as Lord. Proper sexual relations are restored once God’s word becomes the basis for human relationships.

I look at these malignant strains of sin within our nation as a sign of the failure of the preachers of the gospel to proclaim the truth of God.

The more the pulpit proclaims the true gospel the more effect we will have upon our own culture. God confronts the culture every sunday, That culture is sitting in the pew, if the word of God will transform that culture sitting in the pew to a godliness and holiness demonstrated in zeal and bold proclaiming love I believe these activists will loose their power over the masses. The spiritual wickedness in high places behind it will loose its hold and God will replace it with a knowledge of the glory of God…a right understanding of human relations….let alone bringing in salvation to many.

    John
