100 Pianos

Stephen Macasil

Dear Biblical Thought blogfans,

We at BT want to thank you for helping us increase our daily readership volume by 300%! We wouldn’t have enjoyed the tripling of daily visitors if you hadn’t told your friends and family about our blog. So, we say thank you!

We started out with one, then we had two, and now we have 3 total daily readers! That’s AWESOME!!! Thank you for all of your comments on our posts, letting us know who’s out there. Keep it up and we promise to continue to deliver solid content, by His grace.

As our way of saying thank you, we want to give you an encouraging and illuminating quote from the late great A.W. Tozer.

Commenting on Jesus’ High Priestly prayer in John 17…

…that they all may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You, that they also may be one in Us, that the world may believe that You sent Me. –John 17:21

Someone may fear that we are magnifying private religion out of all proportion, that the “us” of the New Testament is being displaced by a selfish “I.” Has it ever occurred to you that one hundred pianos all tuned to the same fork are automatically tuned to each other? They are of one accord by being tuned, not to each other, but to another standard to which each one must individually bow. So one hundred worshippers meeting together, each one looking away to Christ, are in heart nearer to each other than they could possibly be were they to become “unity” conscious and turn their eyes away from God to strive for closer fellowship. Social religion is perfected when private religion is purified. The body becomes stronger as its members become healthier. – A.W. Tozer – The Pursuit of God, pg. 90.

I think that this gem of a quote can help us in strengthening our understanding of the context in which our Christian relationships are to be. As we look away from each other while pointing brothers and sisters toward the Messiah, we become like one of the 100 pianos that are in tune with each other because we are all tuned to the same tuning fork.

Think about it, put it to the test, and if you’re one of our loyal 3 readers, post a comment.

Sincerely,

Steve

My cold brothers and sisters in Alaska, I have good news for you!

Last night I was talking with the main guy that’s heading up the new Faith Defenders website, and he said he’s almost ready to launch.

    Several things:

    1) If you have itunes you can subscribe to the faithdefenders podcast for free.

    2) I will be posting my notes and commentary from Dr. Bob’s Sunday sermons on this blog that will also include an mp3 of the sermon.

    3) Lord willing, we will be able to bring Dr. Bob to you in a very personal format. If you have specific questions for him, contact us at this blog with your question and we will ask him directly, and post the recorded answer on this blog for you to download. So, say for example, you wanted to ask Dr. Bob a question about the Trinity; email your question and we’ll sit down with him and record a session where we ask “Dr. Bob, Josh in Alaska has a question regarding the Trinity. He would like to know how to deal with the JW argument that the Holy Spirit is not a person in the Trinity, just a force that God uses. How can you help Josh?” If we get 4 or 5 questions for Dr. Bob, we may be able to record 30 to 45 minutes of Dr. Bob raw and uncut, directly interacting with you, the readers of this blog! Then we’ll post it in mp3 or podcast it so that you have access to fresh Dr. Bob stuff each week.

    4) We (contributing authors of Biblical Thought) will be posting our notes from the lectures that Dr. Bob gives at California Biblical University and Seminary so that you are kept aware of what’s going on. He just completed an excellent course on Eastern Orthodoxy called: Meeting The Challenge Of Eastern Orthodoxy. This was a very profitable class using their own sources to expose what they really believe and provided Bible saturated refutations of their false religeon. Currently he’s lecturing on the Book of Job. Let me just say WOW! He’s 3 lectures into what will probably end up being more than 12 lectures (based on how thick the syllabus is) and already I have learned at least twice what I knew prior to the class about the book of Job, maybe even more than that. It’s incalculable how much we learn from our pastor and we would like to share with others that can’t just drive a few miles to FD.

There will be much more to update you on, so please hang in there with us as we prayerfully continue in the direction of the Lord’s calling.

For Dr. Bob questions, please reply here, or email to reformnow@gmail.com and type “Question For Dr. Bob” in the subject line. Make sure to include your name, city and state. Long drawn out questions are OK, but we may shorten them to save time for others if they’re too long.

Be sure to read the articles on Satan’s Schemes. Mario is working hard to provide you with these articles. I have benefited tremendously, and I learn like seven or eight new things everytime he posts.

If you have questions for us (Mario and I) regarding our posts, please feel free to email those as well. Although it’s highly unlikely that you’ll have Q’s for us. Well, maybe some like “Can you ask Dr. Bob for me…” We’ll take those as well.

    Bye 4 now…
